Are you a master of operational readiness and system validation? Join Nexus Energy Solutions as a Remote Commissioning Manager, where you will orchestrate the seamless handover of complex infrastructure projects from the comfort of your home office.

About the Role

Nexus Energy Solutions is seeking a high-caliber Commissioning Manager to spearhead our remote project oversight division. In this pivotal role, you won’t be spending your days in a trailer on a construction site; instead, you will be the strategic architect of the commissioning process, utilizing cutting-edge digital twin technology and remote monitoring systems to ensure every asset is installed, tested, and optimized to perfection.

You will act as the primary bridge between the design engineering teams and the field execution crews. Your mission is to eliminate operational bottlenecks, manage rigorous testing protocols, and certify that all systems meet stringent safety and performance standards before final handover. This is a 100% remote position designed for a professional who thrives on organization, technical precision, and high-level stakeholder management.

Salary Range

$115,000 – $165,000 USD per year (Depending on experience and certifications)

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop comprehensive Commissioning Plans (Cx Plan) and detailed testing matrices for large-scale utility and energy projects.
  • Coordinate remote inspections and verify that field data aligns with engineering specifications.
  • Manage the “Punch List” process, ensuring all deficiencies are tracked, rectified, and closed out in real-time.

Technical Oversight

  • Review P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic to create rigorous Functional Performance Tests (FPT).
  • Lead virtual commissioning meetings with clients, vendors, and site leads to ensure alignment on milestones.
  • Analyze system performance data remotely to identify inefficiencies or failure points before they become costly delays.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to OSHA, IEEE, and ISO standards.
  • Generate executive-level reports detailing system readiness and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the transition from the commissioning phase to the final Operations and Maintenance (O&M) phase.

Requirements

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commissioning, project engineering, or operational readiness within the energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-million dollar projects from a remote or hybrid capacity.
  • Deep expertise in commissioning software (e.g., CxAlloy, Procore, or BIM 360).

Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) designation is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage diverse teams across different time zones.
