This fully remote role offers competitive compensation, flexible scheduling, and the chance to shape the performance of cutting‑edge power and infrastructure projects across the United States.

About the Role

As a Remote Commissioning Manager, you will direct the planning, execution, and close‑out of commissioning activities for large‑scale energy, utility, and industrial projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—design engineers, construction managers, and client stakeholders—to ensure systems meet performance specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements before handover. Your leadership will drive schedule adherence, cost control, and quality assurance, all while leveraging digital collaboration tools that keep remote teams aligned and productive.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning Strategy & Planning

  • Develop comprehensive commissioning plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria tailored to each project scope.
  • Coordinate with project managers to integrate commissioning milestones into overall construction schedules.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Supervise a distributed team of commissioning engineers, technicians, and third‑party vendors.
  • Facilitate virtual kick‑off meetings, daily stand‑ups, and weekly progress reviews using video‑conferencing and project‑management platforms.

Execution & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee functional performance testing, integrated system testing, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Validate documentation, including test reports, punch‑list tracking, and turnover packages.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify commissioning risks early, propose mitigation strategies, and maintain a risk register.
  • Capture lessons learned and update standard operating procedures for future projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure strongly preferred.
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or LEED Green Associate a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of commissioning experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proven track record on projects valued over $50 M, preferably in renewable energy, substations, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Extensive familiarity with NEC, IEEE, ASME, and local building codes.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Expertise in commissioning software (e.g., CX‑All, Procore, BIM 360) and data‑analytics tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to shifting schedules, and mentor junior staff.

Preferred Experience

  • Off‑shore wind or solar farm commissioning from concept through commercial operation.
  • Integration of SCADA, DCS, and protection systems in utility environments.
  • Experience leading virtual commissioning teams across multiple time zones.

Salary Range

$110,000 – $150,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, certifications, and project complexity. Performance‑based bonuses and annual equity refreshes are available for top contributors.

Benefits & Perks

  • 100 % remote work with a generous home‑office stipend ($2,500 annually).
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents.
  • 401(k) match up to 5 % plus profit‑sharing contributions.
  • Unlimited PTO policy encouraging work‑life balance.
  • Professional development budget ($3,000/year) for conferences, courses, and certifications.
  • Quarterly virtual team‑building events and an annual in‑person retreat (travel covered).

Company Culture

Our organization thrives on transparency, innovation, and inclusive collaboration. We measure success by the reliability of the assets we commission and the growth of the people who make it happen. Remote employees are fully integrated into decision‑making processes, with regular access to senior leadership through town‑hall sessions and mentorship programs.
