Are you an experienced Commissioning Manager ready to take your career to the next level — without the commute? We’re hiring a forward-thinking, detail-driven Commissioning Manager to remotely oversee the planning, execution, and completion of commissioning projects across multiple industries. If you thrive on turning complex systems into seamless operations and want the freedom to work from anywhere, this is the role you’ve been searching for.

About the Role

As a Remote Commissioning Manager, you will serve as the central point of leadership for commissioning activities spanning HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams — including engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients — to ensure every project meets technical specifications, safety standards, and scheduled milestones.

This is a fully remote position designed for professionals who excel at managing people, processes, and documentation from a home office. You will leverage modern project management tools, video conferencing platforms, and cloud-based commissioning software to coordinate field teams, track progress, and deliver world-class results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, schedules, and budgets for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Lead and mentor remote and on-site commissioning teams, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Review and approve commissioning documentation, including test procedures, checklists, and final reports.
  • Coordinate with design engineers, construction managers, and building owners to ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Conduct virtual and on-site system inspections, functional performance testing, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, deviations, and non-conformances in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Prepare and present project status updates, risk assessments, and closeout documentation to stakeholders.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in commissioning, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven track record of managing commissioning projects from pre-design through handover and closeout.
  • Experience with ASHRAE Guideline 0, ASHRAE Guideline 1.1, and relevant building commissioning standards.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with commissioning management software such as Tablot-1, Commissioning Provider, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), DDC programming, and energy management systems.
  • Excellent familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling tools.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for managing remote teams and client relationships.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a sharp eye for detail and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently in a home office environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset and calm leadership under pressure.

Salary Range

Estimated Annual Compensation: $95,000 – $130,000 USD

Salary is commensurate with experience, certifications, and scope of responsibility. Senior-level candidates or those holding industry-recognized credentials such as CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional) or CxA (Commissioning Authority) may qualify for the upper end of the range or beyond.

Benefits

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive base salary with annual performance bonuses up to 15%.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance from Day 1.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a generous employer match.
  • Monthly home office stipend of $150 to set up and maintain your ideal workspace.
  • Annual professional development budget of $2,500 for certifications, courses, and conferences.

  • 100% remote — work from anywhere in the United States.
  • Flexible scheduling with core collaboration hours to accommodate different time zones.
  • Generous PTO policy starting at 20 days per year, plus company holidays.
