About the Role

As a Remote Background Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive background checks on behalf of clients across various industries, including government agencies, healthcare organizations, and private corporations. What You’ll Do

• Conduct thorough criminal background checks using federal, state, and local databases
• Verify employment history, education credentials, and professional licenses
• Investigate credit history and financial records when applicable
• Interview references and previous employers to gather character assessments
• Document all findings accurately in detailed investigation reports
• Ensure compliance with FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) and other relevant regulations
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
• Meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality standards

Requirements

Education & Experience

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, forensics, or related field preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in investigative work, background screening, or related field
• Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or compliance is a strong plus

Technical Skills

• Proficient with computer systems and Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with investigative databases such as TLO, IRB, and Accurint
• Strong typing speed and data entry accuracy
