Operations Manager in Chicago + Lead a Team That Builds the Future

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Operations Manager to become the operational backbone of Nexus Growth Partners in Chicago. In this pivotal role, you will orchestrate daily workflows, optimize processes, and empower a high-performing team to drive efficiency and scale our impact. If you thrive on turning complex challenges into seamless systems and want to shape the culture of a growing firm, this is your opportunity to make a definitive mark.

About the Role & Nexus Growth Partners

Nexus Growth Partners is a forward-thinking consultancy dedicated to transforming mid-market businesses through data-driven strategy and operational excellence. We don’t just advise; we build and implement. As our Operations Manager, you will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and serve as the central hub for translating corporate strategy into actionable, efficient, and measurable results across all departments.

This is not a siloed administrative role. You will be a proactive leader, a problem-solver, and a culture champion. Your success will be measured by improved team productivity, streamlined project delivery, cost savings, and the overall health of our internal and client-facing operations. We offer a hybrid work model in our vibrant Chicago loop office, fostering collaboration while respecting focused work time.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Process Optimization

  • Spearhead the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of core business processes for project management, client onboarding, and resource allocation.
  • Implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational health, identify bottlenecks, and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Oversee the operational budget, vendor relationships, and office logistics to ensure cost-effectiveness and a seamless work environment.

Team Enablement & Culture

  • Mentor and manage a small team of operations coordinators, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership, delivery teams, and client-facing staff to ensure alignment and clear communication.
  • Cultivate a positive, efficient, and innovative company culture by championing our core values and organizing team-building initiatives.

Strategic Support & Scalability

  • Partner with the COO and department heads to forecast resource needs, plan for growth, and scale operational frameworks sustainably.
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of new tools and technologies (e.g., CRM, project management software) to enhance productivity.
  • Prepare and present regular operational reports and insights to the leadership team.

What You Bring (Requirements)

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive operations management experience, preferably in a professional services, consulting, or tech-enabled agency environment.
  • Skills: Mastery of process mapping, project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum a plus), and financial acumen. Proficiency in MS Office/Google Workspace and experience with operational software (e.g., Asana, Monday.com, Salesforce).
  • Mindset: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias for action. A servant-leader attitude with high emotional intelligence and the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex operational concepts into clear insights for diverse audiences.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) is a strong plus.

The Nexus Growth Partners Advantage (Benefits)

We invest in our people because our success is your success. In return for your expertise and drive, we offer a comprehensive package designed for your well-being and growth:

  • Competitive Compensation: An annual salary range of $95,000 – $125,000 USD, commensurate with experience, plus a performance-based annual bonus.
  • Health & Wellness: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents. Generous paid time off (PTO) and company holidays.
  • Future Security: 401(k) plan with a 4% company match to help you build long-term wealth.
  • Growth Fund: An annual stipend dedicated to your professional development—courses, conferences, certifications, or books.
  • Dynamic Culture: A collaborative, fast-paced, and intellectually stimulating environment. Regular team outings, learning lunches, and a clear path for career advancement.
  • Flexibility: Hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office, 2 remote) with a best-in-class tech stipend to set up your ideal workspace.
