Job Summary
Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a visionary VP, Sports Engineering to lead the engineering strategy for its sports portfolio in Atlanta, Fulton County, US. This senior executive role combines technology leadership with a passion for sports media.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for all sports‑related products and platforms.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and product managers to deliver innovative broadcasting, streaming, and analytics solutions.
- Collaborate with content, editorial and commercial teams to align engineering initiatives with business goals.
- Drive adoption of cloud, AI/ML, and real‑time data processing technologies to enhance fan experiences.
- Manage vendor relationships, budgeting, and resource planning for a multi‑million‑dollar portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and accessibility requirements.
- Mentor senior engineering leaders and foster a culture of continuous improvement and creativity.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, preferably within sports media, broadcasting or large‑scale streaming.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, high‑availability platforms serving millions of users.
- Strong understanding of video pipelines, OTT technologies, data analytics, and emerging sports tech trends.
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Background in AI/ML applications for sports analytics or fan engagement.
- Prior experience in a senior executive role at a media or entertainment company.
Compensation
Annual salary: $243,683.95
