Job Summary

Zurich NA is seeking an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter, Core Contract Surety, based in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento County, US. This technical, market‑facing role supports the Central Pacific Region with surety underwriting expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite core contract surety applications, ensuring compliance with Zurich’s underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Perform detailed risk analysis, including financial statement review, project assessment, and exposure calculations.
• Develop and negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for surety bonds and related products.
• Maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal sales teams across the Central Pacific Region.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.
• Monitor existing accounts, conduct periodic reviews, and recommend renewals or adjustments.
• Prepare clear underwriting reports and present recommendations to senior management.
• Stay current on market trends, legal developments, and industry best practices in surety insurance.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3‑5 years of experience underwriting surety lines, preferably core contract surety.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, risk management, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPCU) are a plus.
• Proficiency with underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, market‑driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits
