Maximus is seeking a UI/UX Designer to join its Madison, Dane County, US team. This role supports federal programs in national security, defense, and public service, delivering user‑centered design solutions for high‑impact government missions.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and subject‑matter experts to define user requirements and translate them into intuitive wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations to inform design decisions and improve system usability.
• Create and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI component libraries that align with federal accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
• Iterate designs based on stakeholder feedback, analytics, and emerging best practices while ensuring timely delivery.
• Support cross‑functional teams in implementing designs, providing specifications, assets, and guidance throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of hands‑on UI/UX design experience, preferably in government, defense, or large‑scale enterprise environments.
• Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and prototyping platforms.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end design processes, from research to high‑fidelity mockups.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present design concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with agile/scrum development methodologies.
• Knowledge of front‑end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) to facilitate design hand‑off.
• Familiarity with federal security and compliance requirements.

Compensation

Salary range: $63,813.30 – $63,813.30 per year.
