About This Position

Join a world‑class defence organisation in Bolton, Greater Manchester as a Test Equipment Design Support Engineer. This 6‑month contract role offers a competitive salary of £135,200 and hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide design, development and support for test equipment used in defence programmes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and firmware issues.
  • Produce detailed engineering documentation, schematics and test procedures.
  • Maintain and improve existing test systems, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Deliver on‑site support during critical test phases and assist with equipment calibration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share best practices in electronics design and production support.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven background as a Production Support Engineer, Test Systems Designer, or Electronics Design Engineer.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout and test instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with defence industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with internal teams and external suppliers.
