Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary

Actalent is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in Saint Peters, Saint Charles County, US. The role ensures incoming metal‑fabrication materials meet strict quality standards, drives continuous improvement with global suppliers, and supports new product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify new suppliers for metal components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct incoming inspection, audit supplier processes, and maintain traceability of all received parts.
• Develop and maintain Supplier Quality Plans, Process Control Plans, and PFMEA documentation.
• Lead corrective action investigations (CAPA) with suppliers, driving root‑cause analysis and implementation of lasting solutions.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, on‑time delivery, cost of poor quality) and report trends to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and procurement teams on new product introductions and design‑for‑quality initiatives.
• Facilitate domestic and international supplier audits, including ISO 9001 and industry‑specific certifications.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects using Lean, Six‑Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
• Maintain accurate records in the quality management system and ensure compliance with customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in supplier quality, preferably in metal fabrication or aerospace/defense environments.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, APQP, PPAP, and GD&T.
• Proficiency with statistical tools (Minitab, SPC) and root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supplier audits and meetings.
