Job Summary
Jacobs is seeking a Structural Engineer (Subject Matter Expert (SME)) specialized in Data Centers for its Boise, Ada County, US office. This senior role leads structural engineering efforts across new‑build and retrofit data center projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for a portfolio of data center projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Develop and review detailed construction documents, calculations, and specifications.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers—to integrate structural solutions.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and act as the primary SME on structural matters.
- Conduct site inspections and support construction phases to verify design intent.
- Stay current with evolving data center technologies and building codes, applying best practices to improve performance and resilience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the United States.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years focused on data center or high‑performance facility design.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE) and BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks).
- Strong understanding of seismic, wind, and load considerations specific to data center environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with modular or prefabricated data center construction.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and LEED certification processes.
- Familiarity with U.S. building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, NEC) and international standards.
Compensation
Salary: $110,813.77 annually (fixed).
Location
Boise, Ada County, United States – remote candidates across the U.S. may be considered, with a preference for proximity to a Jacobs office.
