Job Summary
Jacobs is seeking a Structural Engineer (Subject Matter Expert – Data Centers) in Grand Central, Manhattan, US. This senior role leads structural engineering for new builds and retrofits across a national data‑center portfolio with a salary of $158,785.78.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for data‑center projects, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.
- Develop and review architectural and structural drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, construction managers, and owners throughout project phases.
- Perform value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk assessments for retrofits and expansions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards, seismic and wind criteria, and emerging data‑center technologies.
- Prepare and present technical reports, design proposals, and cost estimates to senior leadership and clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; PE license preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in structural design, with a focus on data‑center or high‑rise commercial facilities.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, RAM Analysis) and BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks).
- Strong understanding of seismic, wind, and load‑bearing design for critical infrastructure.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and work from a Jacobs U.S. office when required.
