Sr Software Development Engineer

NextEra Energy is seeking a Sr Software Development Engineer to join the NextEra Analytics team in Saint Paul, Ramsey County, MN. You will design and build cutting‑edge analytics platforms that turn massive utility data into actionable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑performance analytics and optimization software using open‑source technologies.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and energy consultants to translate complex models into production‑ready code.
• Implement scalable data pipelines that ingest, clean, and process large utility datasets.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and enforce best practices for security, reliability, and performance.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in energy, utilities, or large‑scale data analytics.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, RESTful APIs, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex algorithmic problems and optimize code for speed and memory usage.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and statistical modeling.

Compensation

Base salary: $125,535.28 per year.
