Sr. Reinsurance Accountant

Robert Half is seeking a Sr. Reinsurance Accountant for a long‑term contract in Grand Central, Manhattan, NY. The role supports a non‑profit organization by maintaining ceded reinsurance records, handling close activities, and ensuring accurate billing and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update ceded reinsurance accounting ledgers and schedules.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close entries for property and casualty reinsurance.
• Perform timely billing, invoicing, and reconciliation of reinsurance premiums and recoveries.
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to internal and external audit inquiries.
• Coordinate with underwriting, claims, and finance teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Generate management reports and variance analysis related to reinsurance transactions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in property and casualty insurance accounting, preferably with reinsurance exposure.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, reinsurance accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Compensation

Annual salary: $117,227.66 (fixed for the contract term).
