About This Position
Target is hiring a Sr Engineer – Incident Response Engineering to join its security team in Brooklyn, Hennepin County, US. This senior role focuses on protecting Target’s digital assets through rapid detection, analysis, and mitigation of security incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of incident response processes and tooling.
- Conduct real‑time triage, forensic analysis, and root‑cause investigations for security events.
- Collaborate with threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and IT operations to coordinate cross‑functional response efforts.
- Develop and maintain automated detection rules, playbooks, and response scripts.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance during high‑severity incidents.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and present findings to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in incident response, security operations, or related engineering roles.
- Strong proficiency with SIEM platforms, EDR tools, packet capture, and forensic utilities.
- Expertise in Linux/Windows systems, networking protocols, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Relevant certifications such as GCIH, GCFA, CISSP, or similar are preferred.
