About This Position
Job Summary
RTX is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer – Design Verification – FPGA/ASIC to join its Avionics team in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, IA. This onsite role focuses on high‑performance hardware design verification for aerospace programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute verification plans for FPGA and ASIC designs used in avionics systems.
- Create testbenches, simulation models, and automated test frameworks using SystemVerilog, UVM, and scripting languages.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, and systems engineers to identify and resolve functional issues.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, document findings, and drive corrective actions.
- Maintain verification artifacts, coverage metrics, and compliance with industry standards (DO‑254, MIL‑STD‑1553).
- Support hardware bring‑up, board bring‑up, and integration testing in lab environments.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status – required for access to classified program information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in FPGA/ASIC design verification, preferably in avionics or aerospace.
- Proficiency with HDL languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL) and verification methodologies (UVM, OVM).
- Strong knowledge of digital signal processing, timing analysis, and high‑speed interface protocols.
- Experience with EDA tools such as Mentor Graphics Questa, Cadence Incisive, or Synopsys VCS.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DO‑254 or similar safety‑critical certification processes.
- Familiarity with Python/Tcl scripting for automation.
- Knowledge of hardware description for mixed‑signal ASICs.
