Job Summary

PNC is seeking a Software Engineer Lead – Mainframe; Retail/Deposit to join its Retail Technology organization in Strongsville, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. This role offers a salary of $83,129.87 and provides leadership on mainframe development for retail and deposit solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mainframe developers in designing, coding, testing, and maintaining retail and deposit applications.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and QA to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Drive best practices for code quality, performance tuning, and security compliance on IBM Z platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to roadmap planning for legacy system modernization.
• Ensure timely delivery of releases while adhering to PNC’s governance and risk management standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands‑on mainframe development experience, preferably with COBOL, PL/I, CICS, and DB2.
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams in a financial services environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
