About This Position
PNC is hiring a Software Engineer Lead – Mainframe for its Retail/Deposit team in Glendale, Denver, US. This senior role combines hands‑on mainframe development with leadership of a small agile squad.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 4‑6 mainframe developers delivering high‑performance retail and deposit applications.
- Design, code, test, and maintain COBOL, PL/I, and CICS programs supporting core banking services.
- Collaborate with product owners, QA, and infrastructure teams to define requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best‑practice standards.
- Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, including performance tuning, automation, and migration strategies.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response for production support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of mainframe development experience, primarily in COBOL, CICS, DB2.
- Proven leadership experience managing software teams in an agile environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.

- Experience with retail or deposit banking systems.
