Job Summary

National Radio Astronomy Observatory is seeking a Software Engineer III‑IV, HPC Systems Engineer to join its world‑class research team in Luis Lopez, Socorro County, NM. This full‑time role offers a salary of $107,966 per year and focuses on high‑performance computing support for cutting‑edge radio astronomy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain HPC software and system tools for data processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with astronomers and engineers to optimize code for large‑scale simulations and observations.
  • Manage and troubleshoot cluster hardware, storage, and networking infrastructure.
  • Implement automated monitoring, scheduling, and resource allocation solutions.

  • Familiarity with radio‑astronomy data formats and pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑based HPC resources and containerization (Docker, Singularity).
