Software Engineer, Engineering Platform

Ramp is seeking a Software Engineer, Engineering Platform to join its fast‑growing team in New York City, New York. This role will help build the core infrastructure that powers finance automation for thousands of companies handling over $100 B in spend.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable platform services that support real‑time transaction processing, risk detection, and spend categorization.
• Collaborate with product, data, and security teams to define APIs, data models, and performance benchmarks.
• Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and automated testing to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Contribute to the evolution of Ramp’s engineering culture by advocating best practices, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Optimize system performance and cost efficiency across cloud environments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with large‑scale, data‑intensive systems.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Go, Java, or Python.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, micro‑services architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, high agency, and a sense of urgency.

Preferred Skills

• Background in fintech, payments, or financial risk management.
• Familiarity with event‑driven architectures and streaming technologies (Kafka, Pulsar).

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $246,900 – $339,500 per year, plus equity, health benefits, and generous paid time off.
