Job Summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring a Software Developer in Test (SDET) – I to work remotely for the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full‑time role offers a salary of $96,715.54 and requires a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using C#, .NET, Java or Python.
• Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and scripts to validate complex VA applications.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA analysts to define acceptance criteria and ensure testability.
• Perform code reviews of test assets and provide mentorship to junior team members.
• Identify, document, and track defects; work with stakeholders to drive timely resolution.
• Maintain test environments and manage test data securely in compliance with VA regulations.
• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience with strong coding skills in C#, .NET, Java, or Python.
• Proven experience building and executing automated test suites for web and API services.
• Understanding of software testing fundamentals, test‑driven development (TDD) and behavior‑driven development (BDD).
• Experience with version control (Git), build tools, and containerization (Docker) is preferred.
• Public Trust (MBI) security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• U.S. military veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
