SME System Administrator

GovCIO is seeking an experienced SME System Administrator to support mission‑critical applications for the U.S. Coast Guard. This fully remote role is based in Glendale, Denver, US, with a salary of $106,341.76 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications and automated workflows in line with the Software Lifecycle Management Plan (SLMP).
• Provide expert system administration for Windows and Linux environments, ensuring high availability and security.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to deliver rapid, reliable solutions.
• Maintain documentation, change control records, and compliance reports for federal standards.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and support after‑hours incidents as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of system administration experience in a federal or defense contracting environment.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, AWS, and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
• Understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and security frameworks (NIST, DISA STIG).
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.
