Job Summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced SME System Administrator to support mission‑critical applications for the U.S. Coast Guard. This fully remote role is based out of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, US, with a salary of $88,089.81 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain system architectures that enable Coast Guard operational applications.
• Implement and enforce the Software Lifecycle Management Plan (SLMP) for rapid delivery of functional software and automated workflows.
• Provide tier‑3 system administration support, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security hardening.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate new technologies and ensure compliance with federal security standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and lead root‑cause analysis.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on system administration experience in a federal or defense environment.
• Deep knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes and configuration management tools.
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Skills

• Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer, or CompTIA Security+.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of Coast Guard or other Department of Homeland Security IT standards.
