SME System Administrator

GovCIO is seeking a SME System Administrator to support mission‑critical applications for the U.S. Coast Guard. This fully remote role is based in Cammack Village, Pulaski County, US with a salary of $135,658.75 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mission‑enabling applications in line with the Software Lifecycle Management Plan (SLMP).
• Provide subject‑matter expertise for rapid delivery of functional applications and automated workflows.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments, and cloud services.
• Implement security hardening, patch management, and compliance controls for U.S. Coast Guard systems.
• Collaborate with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure system stability and performance.
• Maintain documentation, create runbooks, and conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of system administration experience in a federal or defense‑contract environment.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/CentOS), virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Hands‑on experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
• Understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and security frameworks (NIST, DISA STIG).
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
• Certifications such as Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat RHCE, or AWS Solutions Architect.
