Site Reliability Engineer (Senior or Staff), Atlas

MongoDB is hiring a Senior or Staff Site Reliability Engineer for the Atlas platform, based in Boston, Suffolk County, US. Work hybrid from our NYC HQ or fully remote within Eastern or Central time zones.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable services for MongoDB Atlas.
• Own end‑to‑end reliability of critical production systems, including incident response and post‑mortem analysis.
• Automate operational tasks using infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with Atlas software engineers to embed reliability practices into the development lifecycle.
• Mentor junior SREs and contribute to team standards, documentation, and on‑call rotations.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in site reliability, DevOps, or production engineering.
• Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Hands‑on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes), Terraform/CloudFormation, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go).
• Deep understanding of observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
• Proven ability to design fault‑tolerant architectures and lead incident resolution with clear communication.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with database services, especially MongoDB.
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies and micro‑service patterns.

Compensation & Benefits
