Site Reliability Engineer (Senior or Staff), Atlas

MongoDB is hiring a Senior or Staff Site Reliability Engineer for the Atlas platform, based in Washington, D.C., US (remote possible within Eastern or Central time zones). Join a high‑impact team that designs, builds, and operates the world‑class cloud database service.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable infrastructure for MongoDB Atlas.
• Own end‑to‑end reliability of services, including incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem documentation.
• Automate deployment, monitoring, and capacity planning using IaC tools and custom scripts.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and security teams to embed reliability best practices early in the development lifecycle.
• Mentor junior SREs and contribute to team knowledge bases and on‑call rotations.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in site reliability, production engineering, or related DevOps roles.
• Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Hands‑on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes), Terraform/CloudFormation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.).
• Proven ability to design fault‑tolerant architectures and drive automation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with database operations, especially MongoDB clusters.
• Programming/scripting skills in Go, Python, or Bash.
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
