Job Summary

Terra Engineering Ltd is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Chicago, Cook County office. This senior‑level role involves leading design, calculations, and quality assurance for diverse construction projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review structural designs, detailed drawings, and specifications for projects of varying size and complexity.
• Perform advanced design calculations, load analysis, and code compliance checks.
• Prepare accurate construction estimates and cost‑control documentation.
• Coordinate design efforts with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure seamless project execution.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering best‑practice standards.
• Implement and oversee Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in client meetings, presenting design solutions and addressing technical inquiries.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the state of Illinois.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong portfolio of commercial and institutional projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro) and BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks).
• In‑depth knowledge of U.S. building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
