Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Splunk Engineer in Arlington, Arlington County, US to lead the design, implementation, and support of a high‑visibility cybersecurity Splunk environment. This role offers a competitive salary range of $131,300 – $237,350.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise‑grade Splunk infrastructure on‑premise or in the cloud.
• Gather detailed requirements from stakeholders and translate them into data onboarding pipelines, index strategies, and search architectures.
• Onboard diverse data sources, develop forwarders, and ensure optimal data parsing and retention policies.
• Create, tune, and support user‑focused searches, dashboards, reports, and knowledge objects to meet operational and executive reporting needs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Splunk team members and act as a subject‑matter expert for senior management.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity analysts to integrate threat‑intel feeds, correlation searches, and alerting mechanisms.
• Perform capacity planning, performance optimization, and routine health checks of the Splunk platform.
• Document architecture, standard operating procedures, and best‑practice configurations.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, or Splunk Enterprise Security.
• Proven expertise in Splunk architecture, data onboarding, search language ( SPL ), and dashboard development.
• Strong background in cybersecurity concepts, SIEM operations, and incident response workflows.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) for deployment and scaling.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with technical teams and senior leadership.
• Relevant certifications such as Splunk Certified Architect, Splunk Certified Admin, or CISSP are a plus.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with networking, log formats, and data normalization techniques.
