Job Summary

Aquinas Consulting is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Android for a remote contract role supporting a leading hospitality client. The position is based out of Bethesda, Montgomery County, US, with a competitive annual salary of $96,667.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical workgroups and serve as the Android subject‑matter expert for product initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product Leaders and Owners to translate business requirements into scalable, high‑performance native Android applications.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust Android features using Kotlin, Java, Jetpack, and modern architectural patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
• Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices for security, performance, and accessibility.
• Integrate RESTful APIs, third‑party SDKs, and cloud services while ensuring offline capabilities and smooth user experiences.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous delivery pipelines (CI/CD).
• Identify and resolve technical debt, conduct performance profiling, and optimize app size and battery usage.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of hands‑on native Android development with a strong portfolio of shipped apps.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java, Android SDK, Jetpack components, and Android Studio.
• Deep understanding of Android UI/UX guidelines, Material Design, and responsive layouts.
• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs, JSON parsing, and authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles, version control (Git), unit testing, and automated UI testing.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
