Senior Software/DevSecOps Engineer – KBR, Detroit, Wayne County, US

Join KBR’s National Security Solutions team as a Senior Software/DevSecOps Engineer, based in Detroit, Wayne County. Lead the design, implementation, and operation of secure, automated software pipelines that protect critical national security assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Integrate security controls (SAST, DAST, container scanning) into the development lifecycle to ensure compliance with DoD and NIST standards.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and cybersecurity teams to define secure coding practices and automation standards.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud and on‑premise infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OpenStack) for high‑availability and performance.
• Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to provision and manage environments.
• Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and security reviews for all released code.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on DevSecOps best practices.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development and DevSecOps engineering.
• Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and version control (Git).
• Hands‑on experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and security scanning tools.
• Deep understanding of cloud security, IAM, and network segmentation.
• Familiarity with federal security frameworks (NIST SP 800‑53, RMF, DoD STIGs).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.

Preferred Experience

• Certifications such as CISSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or Certified DevSecOps Engineer.
• Experience with zero‑trust architectures and micro‑segmentation.

Compensation & Benefits
