About This Position
Senior Software/DevSecOps Engineer – KBR, Detroit, Wayne County, US
Join KBR’s National Security Solutions team as a Senior Software/DevSecOps Engineer, based in Detroit, Wayne County. Lead the design, implementation, and operation of secure, automated software pipelines that protect critical national security assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Integrate security controls (SAST, DAST, container scanning) into the development lifecycle to ensure compliance with DoD and NIST standards.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and cybersecurity teams to define secure coding practices and automation standards.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud and on‑premise infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OpenStack) for high‑availability and performance.
- Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to provision and manage environments.
- Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and security reviews for all released code.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on DevSecOps best practices.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development and DevSecOps engineering.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and version control (Git).
- Hands‑on experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and security scanning tools.
- Deep understanding of cloud security, IAM, and network segmentation.
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks (NIST SP 800‑53, RMF, DoD STIGs).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.
Preferred Experience
- Certifications such as CISSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or Certified DevSecOps Engineer.
- Experience with zero‑trust architectures and micro‑segmentation.
- Background in intelligence, defense, or national security projects.
Compensation & Benefits
