Senior Rail and Freight Consultant

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Rail and Freight Consultant to join its Freight & Logistics Advisory Services team in Atlanta, Fulton County, US. This senior role supports public‑sector clients in strengthening rail and freight networks that keep communities and economies moving.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of state and regional rail plans, statewide freight plans, and multimodal transportation strategies.
• Conduct data analysis, forecasting, and scenario modeling to evaluate freight movement and rail capacity.
• Prepare clear, compelling reports, presentations, and policy recommendations for government agencies and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, economists, and GIS specialists.
• Manage client relationships, ensuring project milestones, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to business development through proposal writing and networking.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in rail, freight, or logistics consulting, preferably with public‑sector projects.
• Proven expertise in freight modeling tools (e.g., TM1, VISTA, or similar) and GIS applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex analysis into actionable recommendations.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary project teams and delivering large‑scale transportation plans.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Transportation Planning certification is a plus.
