Senior Oracle Database Administrator

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join its team in Quantico, VA. This hybrid role involves managing, securing, monitoring, and maintaining the enterprise Oracle data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the physical design and smooth operation of Oracle databases.
• Perform performance tuning, index optimization, and query optimization across all environments.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and security, applying patches and upgrades as needed.
• Review and improve database schema designs, ensuring efficient integration with applications and other systems.
• Develop and enforce backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call support for critical incidents and resolve database‑related issues promptly.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to align database solutions with business goals.
• Document procedures, standards, and architectural decisions.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands‑on experience administering Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c or later).
• Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and RMAN.
• Proven expertise in performance tuning, SQL optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with backup/recovery, security hardening, and patch management.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar certification.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI) and hybrid deployments.
• Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell.

Compensation & Benefits
