About This Position
Job Summary
WSP Canada is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Power Generation to join its Energy subsector in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia. This senior role will lead mechanical design and analysis for power generation projects, driving innovative solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design, analysis, and documentation for power generation facilities including thermal, hydro, and renewable projects.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring integration of mechanical systems with electrical, civil, and control engineering.
- Develop and review specifications, calculations, and technical reports to meet regulatory and client standards.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and support professional development within the team.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to define project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., ANSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks) for modeling, stress analysis, and system optimization.
- Identify and implement value‑engineering opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of power generation assets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred) and professional engineering licensure (P.Eng) in BC.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design for power generation or heavy‑industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of ASME, CSA, and IEC standards related to pressure vessels, piping, and rotating equipment.
- Proven track record managing large‑scale projects from concept through commissioning.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with renewable energy systems (wind, solar, biomass) and integration with conventional power plants.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and carbon‑reduction initiatives.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
