About This Position
Mercor is seeking a Senior Epidemiologist to work remotely on a part‑time basis, supporting AI research labs with public health expertise. This contract role offers approximately 20 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, author, and review technical tasks that assess AI model performance on public health datasets.
- Develop evaluation frameworks and metrics to ensure AI outputs are safe, accurate, and ethically aligned.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and domain experts to interpret results and recommend improvements.
- Prepare clear documentation and reports for internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Stay current with emerging epidemiological methods and AI governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in epidemiological research or public‑health analytics.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and experience evaluating model outputs in health contexts.
- Proficiency with statistical software (R, SAS, Stata) and data manipulation tools (Python, SQL).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for non‑technical audiences.
