Senior Distribution Lines Engineer, Power – WSP Canada, Toronto, Ontario

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design of overhead and underground distribution lines, substations, and related equipment.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications, calculations, and construction drawings in compliance with Canadian standards (CSA, IEC).
  • Perform load flow, fault analysis, and reliability studies to ensure system performance and safety.
  • Coordinate with utility clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and permits.
  • Mentor junior engineers, review their work, and provide technical guidance.
  • Support project budgeting, scheduling, and risk management activities.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies such as smart grid, renewable integration, and advanced conductors.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Ontario or eligibility to obtain.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in power distribution design and analysis.
  • Proficiency with industry software (e.g., ETAP, CYME, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario utility standards, O. Reg. 267/13, and relevant safety codes.
  • Excellent communication, client‑facing, and teamwork skills.
