NavitasPartners is hiring a Senior Data Platform Engineer – Cloud & GenAI Enablement to work remotely from Ottawa, Canada. This contract/full‑time role focuses on building scalable cloud data platforms that power AI/ML and Generative AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑native data pipelines and warehouses on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Implement data ingestion, transformation, and storage frameworks that support AI/ML model training and inference.
• Integrate GenAI tools and APIs into the data platform to enable enterprise‑wide generative AI capabilities.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to define data requirements and ensure high‑quality, governed data assets.
• Optimize performance, cost, and security of data solutions, leveraging best practices for data governance and compliance.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to architectural decision‑making.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or platform engineering, with a strong focus on cloud environments.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Prefect).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud data services (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Knowledge of AI/ML pipelines and familiarity with GenAI frameworks or APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).
• Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and data security best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote/hybrid setting.

Preferred Skills

• Certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with streaming data platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis.
• Background in DevOps/CI‑CD for data workloads.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $83,200 CAD per year (fixed). Contract duration and potential full‑time conversion based on performance.
