About This Position
Northbridge Financial Corporation is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join its Legal and Compliance team in Toronto, Ontario. In this senior legal role you will manage complex regulatory matters and support business partners within a property and casualty insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal advice on corporate, regulatory, and insurance‑related issues.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, policies, and other legal documents.
- Assist the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsels with high‑level projects and initiatives.
- Monitor legislative changes and ensure company compliance with applicable laws.
- Collaborate with business units to mitigate risk and support commercial objectives.
- Lead or support litigation, dispute resolution, and regulatory investigations as needed.
- Mentor junior legal staff and contribute to the development of best‑practice legal processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) or LL.B. from an accredited law school.
- Called to the bar in Ontario and in good standing.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in corporate law, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of property and casualty insurance regulations.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
