About This Position
Radiant Industries is seeking a Senior Controls Systems Engineer in El Segundo, Los Angeles County, CA to lead the design and integration of control systems for its groundbreaking portable nuclear microreactors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of control architecture for the Kaleidos 1‑MW micro‑reactor, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with nuclear regulations.
- Design, implement, and test hardware and software control loops, PLCs, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and fault‑tolerant systems.
- Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and nuclear engineering teams to integrate control solutions into the portable reactor platform.
- Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, verification & validation plans, and risk assessments.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and support cross‑functional project reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in controls system design for high‑integrity or safety‑critical applications (e.g., aerospace, power generation, nuclear).
- Proficiency with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA development, and real‑time embedded systems.
- Strong knowledge of IEC 61508/61511 functional safety standards and nuclear safety guidelines.
- Experience with model‑based design tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW) and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing.
