Senior Check Point Firewall Engineer

Job Summary

Electronic Consulting Services, Inc is hiring a Senior Check Point Firewall Engineer for its Mount Rainier, Prince George’s County office (remote work available). This full‑time role supports a Federal government client with advanced firewall design, implementation, and administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with client staff to design, plan, and deploy new Check Point firewall architectures, including upgrades and new security features.
• Lead day‑to‑day administration of the client’s Check Point firewalls, performing updates, patches, and policy changes.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability analyses, and recommend remediation strategies.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration baselines.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and act as the escalation point for complex firewall issues.
• Coordinate with network, server, and application teams to ensure integrated security solutions.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to emergency incidents promptly.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Check Point firewall technologies (R80.x and newer).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VPN, NAT, routing, and security best practices.
• Relevant certifications such as Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) or Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE).
• Experience supporting Federal or government‑grade environments and understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with cloud firewalls (AWS, Azure) and hybrid network environments.
• Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
• Active Secret or higher security clearance.

Compensation

Annual salary: $137,050.92
