About This Position
Mercor is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to work remotely on a part‑time basis, supporting cutting‑edge AI research labs. This contract role offers $85–$95 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate quantitative biology pipelines for AI model benchmarking.
- Author and review technical documentation, ensuring reproducibility and scientific rigor.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of data scientists, engineers, and domain experts.
- Analyze large‑scale genomic and proteomic datasets to extract actionable insights.
- Develop custom scripts and tools in Python/R to automate workflows.
- Present findings to stakeholders and contribute to research publications.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Quantitative Biology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with high‑throughput sequencing data analysis.
- Proficiency in Python, R, and Linux command‑line tools.
- Strong statistical background and experience with machine learning frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AI/ML model evaluation in biological contexts.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and workflow managers (Nextflow, Snakemake).
