About This Position
Job Summary
BLN24 is seeking a Senior Application Developer (NOAA/AWIPS) to join its team in Mc Lean, Fairfax County, US. This role delivers high‑impact software solutions for the U.S. Federal Government, supporting mission‑critical weather and environmental systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex applications for NOAA’s Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS).
- Collaborate with federal stakeholders, architects, and cross‑functional teams to translate mission requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor junior developers.
- Integrate third‑party APIs, data feeds, and GIS components while ensuring compliance with security and federal standards.
- Provide technical troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support for mission‑critical deployments.
- Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and training materials for end‑users and support staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of professional experience in Java, C++, or Python development, with a strong focus on large‑scale enterprise applications.
- Hands‑on experience with AWIPS, GIS tools, and real‑time data processing.
- Proficiency in modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines).
- Clearance eligibility for U.S. Federal Government contracts.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience
- Previous work with NOAA, USGS, or other federal agencies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or PMP.
Compensation & Benefits
