Senior Accountant – Corps position with The Salvation Army USA Central Territory, located in Schiller Park, Cook County, US. This full‑time, exempt role reports to the General Fund Accounting Manager and offers a salary of $66,519.43.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Corps.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and federal/state regulations.
- Manage the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and oversee month‑end close processes.
- Coordinate audits, provide supporting documentation, and implement audit recommendations.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for leadership decision‑making.
- Assist with grant accounting, fund allocations, and donor reporting requirements.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and serve as a resource for complex accounting issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in non‑profit or faith‑based organizations.
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, accrual accounting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.
