About This Position
Job Summary
UMHS is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PCU/Step‑Down unit in Wardsville, Cole County, Missouri. This full‑time day shift position works three 12‑hour days per week (07:00‑19:30) with rotating weekend and floating assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the progressive care unit, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing assessments.
- Utilize Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) skills for emergency interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers, to develop and implement care plans.
- Document patient information accurately in Cerner EMR (preferred) and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and continuity of care initiatives.
- Respond to rapid response and code events as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Missouri (or eligibility for licensure).
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIH 1st Time Traveler certification accepted.
- Minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record preferred.
- Ability to float between units and work every other weekend.
- Strong communication, critical‑thinking, and teamwork skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The role requires frequent ambulating, lifting, reaching, and bending. Reasonable accommodations may be provided in accordance with ADA guidelines.
