RN – Med/Surg – Nights

Job Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med/Surg night shifts at our Slidell, Saint Tammany Parish location. This full‑time role offers a salary of $36,362.84 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, compassionate nursing care to adult medical‑surgical patients during night hours.
• Assess patient conditions, administer medications, and coordinate treatments according to physician orders.
• Document patient care accurately in electronic health records.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient transitions and discharge planning.
• Monitor vital signs, respond to emergencies, and activate rapid response when needed.
• Educate patients and families about post‑operative care and recovery.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and state nursing regulations.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Louisiana.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in medical‑surgical nursing preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a night‑shift team.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
