Job Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a full‑time Respiratory Therapist for the River Region in Kenner, Jefferson Parish. This PRN position offers a choice of day or night shifts with an annual salary of $65,608.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for patients of all ages across acute, ICU, and step‑down units.
• Operate and maintain mechanical ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and other respiratory equipment.
• Provide emergency airway management, including intubation assistance and bronchoscopy support.
• Educate patients and families on inhaler technique, oxygen therapy, and pulmonary hygiene.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
• Document all interventions accurately in the electronic health record and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement projects, code reviews, and staff training sessions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Louisiana.
• Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – preferred.
• Minimum 1‑2 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Strong critical‑thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible days or nights on a PRN schedule.
