Respiratory Therapist- PFT Lab

Sentara Hospitals is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Lab on day shift at Sentira CarePlex Hospital in Hampton City, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret pulmonary function tests (spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, etc.) on in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Maintain and calibrate PFT equipment according to manufacturer and infection‑control standards.
• Document test results accurately in the electronic health record and communicate findings to physicians and care teams.
• Provide patient education on test procedures and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout testing.
• Collaborate with the respiratory therapy department to coordinate care for patients with complex pulmonary conditions.
• Adhere to hospital policies, state regulations, and professional standards for respiratory care.

Qualifications

• Current State of Virginia Respiratory Therapist license (RT or RRT).
• Certification in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) preferred.
• Prior experience working in a PFT lab or pulmonary diagnostics.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret test data.
• Excellent communication and patient‑centred care skills.
• Ability to work PRN day‑shift schedule (first shift).

Compensation & Benefits
