Job Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist (NICU) to join our neonatal intensive care unit in New Orleans, Orleans Parish. This full‑time role offers a competitive salary of $76,567.85 and the opportunity to work in a historic, award‑winning health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill neonates, including mechanical ventilation, CPAP, and aerosol therapies.
• Perform assessments, develop individualized care plans, and adjust treatment based on arterial blood gases and clinical indicators.
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Educate families on respiratory support equipment and weaning strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and staff education programs.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, code events, and rapid response calls within the NICU.

Required Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Louisiana.
• Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – CCRN‑N or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of NICU respiratory experience or equivalent neonatal intensive care exposure.
• Strong knowledge of neonatal ventilator modes, humidification systems, and neonatal pharmacology.
• Excellent communication skills, critical‑thinking ability, and a compassionate approach to family-centered care.

Preferred Attributes

• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (ANRP) certification.
• Experience with ECMO or high‑frequency oscillatory ventilation.
