RES eVA Cyber Security Associate (Remote)

The RES eVA Cyber Security Associate role at GovCIO is a fully remote position for candidates located anywhere in the United States, supporting the eVA Authority to Operation process. The role offers a fixed annual salary of $71,748.25.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain portions of Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP) control narratives, Risk Assessment (RA) inputs, Incident Response Plans (IRP), and Information System Contingency Plans (ISCP).
• Create and update configuration management artifacts to ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
• Manage day‑to‑day updates in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), including editing Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and uploading control evidence.
• Coordinate with system owners, auditors, and federal stakeholders to address security findings and ensure timely remediation.
• Perform continuous monitoring activities, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to maintain the security posture of eVA systems.
• Provide expert guidance on security controls, NIST SP 800‑53, RMF, and other federal frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship with eligibility for a Public Trust or Suitability clearance.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in federal cyber security, risk management, or related IT security roles.
• Hands‑on experience with eMASS, POA&M management, and ATO documentation.
• Strong knowledge of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800‑53 controls, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting technical documentation and interacting with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while meeting strict deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting eVA or other VA IT systems.
• Certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA CySA+.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and associated security controls.
