RES eVA Cyber Security Associate (Remote)

The RES eVA Cyber Security Associate role at GovCIO is a fully remote position supporting the eVA Authority to Operation process for the United States government. The role is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States, with a salary of $72,597.59.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain portions of Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation, including System Security Plan (SSP) control narratives, Risk Assessment inputs, Incident Response Plan (IRP) and Information System Contingency Plan (ISCP) sections.
• Create and update configuration management artifacts to ensure compliance with federal standards.
• Manage day‑to‑day updates in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), including Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) edits and control evidence uploads.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address security findings and implement remediation actions.
• Provide technical guidance on security controls, risk management, and continuous monitoring activities.
• Assist in preparing reports for senior leadership and federal oversight bodies.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship with eligibility for a Public Trust or Suitability clearance.
• Experience in federal IT security processes, especially ATO documentation and eMASS.
• Strong understanding of NIST SP 800‑53, RMF, and other federal cybersecurity frameworks.
• Excellent written communication skills for drafting security narratives and reports.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experience

• Previous work with the eVA (Electronic Veterans Affairs) system or similar government applications.
• Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or DoD 8570‑01‑M.
• Familiarity with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
