Job Summary

Gentex Corporation is seeking a Requirements Engineer II to join its team at the Grand Rapids, Kent County, MI location. This on‑site role focuses on capturing, analyzing, and documenting product requirements for cutting‑edge automotive and safety technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders—including product managers, designers, and software engineers—to elicit clear, testable requirements.
• Write detailed functional and non‑functional specifications, use cases, and user stories that guide design and development.
• Maintain a traceability matrix to ensure every requirement is verified through design, implementation, and testing.
• Conduct requirement reviews, gap analyses, and impact assessments for change requests.
• Facilitate requirement workshops and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and internal quality processes.
• Support verification and validation activities by providing necessary documentation and clarifications.
• Continuously improve requirements engineering processes and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in requirements engineering, systems analysis, or a similar role, preferably in automotive, aerospace, or safety‑critical environments.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into precise technical specifications.
• Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Jama, Jama Connect, or similar).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, or IEC 61508 is a plus.
